Hudler Carolina Tree Farms, a family business in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains, is owned and operated by Ron Hudler and his three sons, Dale, Fred and Bill. The first trees were planted on a fourth generation family farm in Grassy Creek, North Carolina in 1980. Hudler Trees grows Christmas Trees.
From this original planting of Fraser Fir on the Grassy Creek Farm, the business now operates North Carolina farms in Ashe, Watauga and Alleghany Counties and Virginia farms in Grayson County.
The first trees were sold in 1992; 4,000 trees to three customers, two of whom continue to be customers and good friends. Today we have 151 customers across the Eastern half of our country.
We are proud to say that as our business grew likewise our investment in the community and our industry grows. Dale, our Operations Manager, is a member of the North Carolina Tree Association Board of Directors. Dale also manages the NCCTA auction which raises more than $5,000 annually for scientific research to improve Fraser Fir Christmas Trees. Dale and Fred are both active in Little League Sports. Bill’s wife, Mona, teaches in the Ashe County Elementary School system and Bill constantly lends his technical skills to help out members of the community with technical problems.
Ron works for the National Christmas Tree Association’s Market Expansion Program, is a Board Member of a local bank, and serves as Chairman of the NC Department of Labors Health and Safety Committee.
